Seek out the sun seek things that are beyond you; to grow and improve as a person

Ever noticed the seeds that are growing?  How the shoots of the growing seed will break the sod and grow upward and to seek the sun.

This is a fine example of journey towards self improvement  and to seek for things beyond you like the sun which the seeds seek by growing upward.

One of the important part of living is growing and being better in size physical appearance and atittude.

But we see people who are into depths of despair hopelessness and indolence.   We should be like the plants that grow, and multiply and grow upward.

Do we really understand about being better?

It is my observation despite all the brave and strong talk about self improvement, ie that being an employees major responsibility is to improve himself and his people  it is all hot air and talk.  People want to stick to their habits and are defensive and will not change.  They will stick to their old ways.  In the conversation:  1.  they will ignore the criticism no matter how positive. 2. they will openly defy and rationalize the current behavior....3. And nothing will happen

When you encounter and see a difficult situation, our tendency is to run away and brush off the hard reality.  We go to a vacation, do not  think about the problem.  But real men and leaders will:  solve the problem
and will not stop unless the problem is solved, and find out also what is wrong with him and his people.

It is about determination courage and perseverance...

And from the experience, learn and earn from this.  Write down the problem, list down how the problem was solved using innovative, new techniques.  That is the way to grow

Some businesses fail because of the top guy/owner

I have been engaged in several projects which is similar to ours...

The main reason I think why most of them failed or have failed is because of the unchanging mindset of the owner.  No amount of advice can change the direction of the business because the owner has refused to change:  the price list, the positioning,  and many practices.  She/he will defend the past and the business concept/model which is all ready out of synch with the reality...

If the owner will not listen to the consultant, or refuse to accept reality, that business is likely to fail..

What is your greatest job responsibility?

In a birthday party of a colleague, a dentist detailman of the largest pharma company, a supervisor was present and asked us the above question. Some of those present were all ready aged Some answered:

             1.  To implement company orders and policies
             2.  To communicate company polices
             3.  To watch over the people under his/her supervision

The supervisor who eventually became the EVP of this multi billion company, said that 1 to 3 while partially correct fall short of the real responsibility of a worker/supervisor.  For those who reply, you need a policeman, a maid, or a watcher/timekeeper.  Which is not very nice for somebody who gets a lofty position and more pay.

He said that the real job of anyone is to improve himself (if an employee) or others if he is a supervisor...
